Last times

This is obviously a time in which there are lots of 'last times': the last Monday at work, the goodbey drink and speech, the last day at work (Friday), the last time in Amsterdam, the last time I see my colleagues, the last weekend in Haarlem and so on. Good last times, sad last times, funny last times....
My last week at work was hectic, extremely busy and also sad, not just because I'm saying goodbey but also all the financial worries that are ahead for our department. Ofcourse there were loads of happy moments as well and my farewell on Thursday was lovely, lots of people and a brilliant speech from my boss. Friday was time to wrap everything up and have a lovely long lunch with some of the diehards working on Friday. A big downer was having my mole removed on Fridaymorning. Since the sedation wasn't working too well it was very painfull with lots of blood (all over my clothes, hooray), no fun at all. Thank goodness for aspirin and after a busy day Gwendy came over to Haarlem to spent the last weekend in Haarlem together. We were joined by Gerrit and Susanne on Saturdaymorning and after lots of tea and catching up we decided to go to one of my favourite museums: The Dolhuys which is walking distance from here. It's the national museum for psychiatry (yes that sounds boring) which asks the question: what is crazy?? They had a special section on Vincent van Gogh (crazy or genius) and it was a great experience. It's not really a traditional museum, more an experience with stories all around you, movies, things to listen to, touch, etc etc. It gives an insight in psychiatric theories through the ages on a very accessible way. We had dinner with the four of us after which Gerrit and Susanne headed back to Holten and we chilled out in front of the tv. On Sunday we made plans to go to the beach but the weather was extremely unpredictable with lovely sunshine followed by horrible rain within 10 min. So we decided to stay close to home and head to the Schoterbos, which is about a 10 min walk from here. Lovely in autumn with those coloured leaves and made for some leipo pictures ;-)  Yesterday was a day of packing, cleaning, getting Thai Bath from the bank etc. Today some more packing and cleaning, but also a lovely High Tea with Lenneke, Aira and Margreet, thanks ladies!!!!! I will miss you. Tomorrow Gillian and baby Jayden will visit and Thursday is the big day: moving my stuff to Friesland and saying goodbey to Haarlem. Saturday evening a last goodbey party and then Wednesday next week it's time to fly down south!!!!

Hi Esther,

Hope you enjoyed the goodbye party and will enjoy the trip ahead. Be sure to pass on the Fryslan address to me in order to receive the new-baby-card there (I suppose that's the safest, but if you prefer a Thai PO box, that suits us as well).

Take care! Gerwin.
