Hmmm

When I'm checking the statistics for the blog I'm curious which person in Russia is reading my blog since I don't think I know anyone there. So if you are reading this, let me know who you are, it would be fun to see who (and why) reads it.
Anyhow, not much has happened on the housefront, but at work we've got a new account manager and he's basically adopted me. I am very happy, I can show him around the systems etc and he'll challenge me with finance questions and to look for solutions. He's very experienced so I intend to learn as much from him as I can in the next two years. See where that'll take me.
Apart from that life is rather boring. It'll get more exciting this week since I'll pick up Ben & Katie and little Zac from Schiphol this weekend to have a few days of fun in NL. We'll be staying at my parents farm since I don't have space to put them up, so it's a good combo seeing them and my parents for a bit. The only downside is the weather forecast, but let's see if we can work in some sun in those days (pleaaaaaaase weathergods be with us for a bit). Pictures and stories will follow afterwards :)
Oh and then it is only 4 weeks until I can move into my new home, hooray. Time to do lots of shopping and I have to admit it: I'm not the shopping type. Why on earth do we have to have 85 different kinds of laminate flooring and 10 different types of underflooring? It is hard enough to decide on things like paint colours, table sizes and wood types etc then WHY do we need so many other choices as well.... not that we should have 1 type of everything so all houses would look alike but still. Fortunately all I can do now is organise other stuff and shopping will have to start after August first since I have no place to put it at the moment. I'm in desperate need of a shopping buddy for wise decisions about decorating. Except for the toilet, that is going to be my 'over the top' project, I've already got the paint (raspberry swirl) and am looking for a glitter grey toilet seat....

A house, a job, a car

That is the status as of June 2013. How cool is that! A bit weird as well, since now it feels like I should be all grown up and serious about everything. Which I am for the most part, but a teeny bit of me will always be a bit of a rebel. As one of my former colleagues said: now all you need is a man to go grocery shopping with on a Saturday afternoon..... well that'll have to wait because first I need to organise myself and all my stuff so I can move into the new house at the beginning of August. The job doesn't need much since it is basically doing the same kind of thing but than directly at the bank and not being paid by an agency. Which means a higher salary for me and less costs for them. Win win I'd say. Oh and since I had to say goodbey to the lease car my new secondhandy Sirion has entered my life. It feels a bit weird writing here again since I've skipped such a huge part of my life, but it feels like moving has called for a bit of updating (it will be nice to follow the progress online and be able to read back the story later on).
Today I've sent the resignation form to the landlord, which makes it feel very official. I've also organised internet and insurance for the new house (and car) and cancelled the internet here. Which obviously was a bitch since my current internetproviders are absolute losers. You fill in an online form with the end date, get a digital conformation with that date and a week later they send you a letter to confirm an entirely different date. Suckers. Oh and I've also told the city council that I'm moving, another tick on the very very very long list of things to do. Anyway. Pictures will follow when the time is there to move and there is actually something to show :)

Working girl

Life as a working girl is good I'd have to say. Very busy but good! Lots to learn, lots of opportunities and a car. Yes. A car. Her name is Sibi and she is a dark grey Seat Ibiza. We've had some adjustment issues after the month with Twingo, but now I think we're getting there. We managed to survive Amsterdam yesterday and this morning, so the big test is over. Mr TomTom is also very useful so the three of us are a good team.
Work at the bank is fine, I'm stationed @ Stadskanaal at the moment but will move somewhere else around November I guess. Let's see what life brings us. I'm keeping myself busy at the weekends with visiting friends, having a few drinks here and there, some parties, some housework and some homework. I'll try to put some pictures and a longer story up in the coming week or so, and try to start to breathe some new life into this blog.

Contract signed

Yesterday I've signed my contract and all the other necessary papers (which, if you start working for a bank, is a huge amount of paperwork), so now I am officially employed from June 1st onwards, hooray. Well at least for a year. Friday I have a meeting at my potential bank to talk about the assignment and to see if they like me enough to give me the job. If not, it'll be a problem... anyway I'll do my best and hopefully I can start on Friday June 1st at the office in Stadskanaal. More news later!

Times are changing

Ok. Let's skip the Texel story and lots of things in between then and now. This morning I finally got that ultimate call, the one that says "welcome back in the world of people who have a life". This sounds dramatic and it kind of is. Because during that call I was offered a job. Finally I will be part of the working crew, have regular hours, an income, colleagues, pay taxes, have holidays, dream about the good old days when I was jobless and could do whatever I wanted to do (and didn't do much) and use my brain again, learn something new, have a 'lease car', be extremely tired from thinking about things all day and happy to have a weekend. Life is getting better by the minute!
It also happens that I am dating someone as well, so on that side of life there is also some happy news. It's very very early and there are of course some ups and downs but all in all it is looking good :-)
