Broome to Exmouth

Just a very short update here, cause the internet is very expensive and I seem to be unable to upload pictures cause blogger is not working properly.
What I forgot last time is that on our second night in Broome we went to see Samson and Delilah, an aboriginal/ozzie movie about an aboriginal young couple in the outback near Alice Springs. Very depressing, but that's the reality for aboriginals here. The second day in Broome we went shopping, had another afternoon at Cable Beach and in the evening we had a few beers in the backpackers as a goodbye to everybody. Up early on Thursdaymorning to hop onto the bus with Pete as our driver and Fridi, Paul, Lisa and me as Darwin crew coming on. Only 13 of us in total, so lots of space on the bus!! The first day was lots of driving, just to get us as close to Karijini NP as possible. We had our first stop at Roebuck Roadhouse, where we ran into Sharpie, our previous guide. A last goodbey to him and after a lunch at the very remote Sandfire roadhouse we headed to 80 mile beach for a nice stroll and some stretching of the legs. Ofcourse a very necessary supermarket stop in Port Hedland, and a quick view of sunset in the harbour, we headed towards Indee Station for the night. Indee station is a working cattle station with a little campsite attached to it. Since the toilets where quite far away from our spot, we went for bush toilets again. Another half day of driving on Friday, before arriving at our destination for the next 3 nights: Karijini NP!! A quick glance around the visitors centre to get a feel for the place and time to head into the campsite and our first gorge: Dale's Gorge, where we did circular pool, fortescue falls and fern pool. A chilled out (litteraly, since it's very cold up there) evening at the Savannah Camp and ready for more gorge with extremely cold water (10 degrees, so not much swimming): first Knox Gorge in the morning, followed by Joffre Gorge after lunch and a lovely sundowner (watching sunset sitting on a hill, on top of a swag, with beer and camera within handreach). Brilliant! Our last day in Karijini we headed towards the most challenging gorges, where there were some spectacular climbes, lots of wading and swimming through the cold water: Weano Gorge and Hancock Gorge. After a late lunch we were ready for some chillaxing (as Pete calls it), so just a bit of reading in the sun. We spotted Ally and Lucy who were on our last trip, and now are going down to Perth in a car they bought in Broome. Great to see them! Ofcourse we had another sundowner at another hill and dinner, where we were allowed to invite Ally and Lucy as well. Pete is a great cook, so we are heaving really gourmet food and lots of lovely breakfasts (pancakes, fry ups) and lunches (pasta salad, hamburgers etc).
Today we left at 6 to be here in Exmouth at a reasonable hour. We had lunch at Nanutarra Roadhouse, known as Ozzies most expensive roadhouse. Now we checked into the hostel and the others left for prawns and sunset at the beach. Since I don't like seafood, I opted for staying in town, a shower (first warm one in 5 days) and updating you guys. Sorry about the pictures, I might try again when I'm in Perth in about a week.

Hey Esther,

Zo te zien vermaak je je weer goed in Ozzie land ;). Ik heb eens even mijn hersenen gekraakt om je blog weer te vinden, gelukkig is het gelukt.

Nog heel veel fun daar aan de andere kant van de wereld!!
