UK part 2

Up early in the morning to pack everything and off we went to Winchester, a beautiful city with an even more amazing cathedral with the grave of Jane Austen. We also went past the house where she used to live, but that was unimpressive (it's private property now and not open to visitors). Another very famous building and interior are linked to one of the most famous legends/myths of England: the knights of the round table! In Winchester you can find the Great Hall, complete with THE round table as the pictures prove ;) There happened to be a history tour around town while we were there, were people had to visit all sorts of import sites and had to answer questions asked by doorkeepers, which explains this funny guy in his historic outfit. After a lovely morning it was time to head to Fowey, Cornwall, our campsite (Penhale) for the next few nights. We tried to find a historic site called the Maumbury Rings on the way there, but miserably failed. Same goes for a statue of Cerne Abbas. We apparently like things that are not very well signposted. Ahum. Weird, because they were named as nice eye pleasers in the Lonely Planet. After searching for a while I got sick of it, since we still had a long drive ahead of us towards Cornwall and decided to move on. In the evening we went out for dinner to a restaurant (of which I forgot the name, but Gwendy has a picture of the sign) situated about 1 mile from the campsite, on the beach! The restaurant wasn't that great but the spot was and it was lovely not to cook for a night and just enjoy a bottle of wine with the food! If you look closely to the picture of the campsite you see water/ a bay, that's where the restaurant was :) Here's just a funny picture we saw along the way hehe. Sunday morning we decided it was time to relax and kick back, so we slept in late (nine ish), had a very long hot shower etc and headed off towards Fowey on foot so we could fully enjoy the lovely weather and beautiful surroundings. This is Tristans stone, yep the Tristan of the knights named above, which is on the way from the campsite heading into Fowey. It was a great idea to walk since the weather stayed lovely all day and we walked around town, had a boattour through the harbour during which we saw Daphne du Maurier's house (her son lives there now) and went up the hill to visit St Catherine's Castle, which is now a ruine. From there you could make a lovely stroll over the hills following the natural heritage coastal path along the sea after which we decided it was time to head back to the campsite and cook a lovely pasta (spaghetti). According to this car sticker people in Cornwall see things we don't see on the road, so always be carefull when driving there ;) We played some Yahtzee in the car after we made plans for the following day and headed in for a bit of sleep. The story continues in the next post!
